Environmental friendly solutions – Eco Lighthouse

Sun and wind will be transformed into useful energy at Little island Lighthouse.
Electricity and water were never installed here on the island. A diesel generator
has produced electricity and heat for the lighthouse for many years. Today
we’re working hard to establish more environmental friendly solutions. Solar
cells and wind mills are going to be the main source of energy.

We are honoured that REC Group has decided to use Little island Lighthouse
as a test station for their solar cells in corrosive environment.

At the lighthouse they’ve been gathering rain water since the very first days.
But during dry summers and periods with lots of guests, that’s not enough.
The municipality of Bø is now evaluating whether they’ll supply the lighthouse
with water from the mainland through underwater pipes. This will ensure a
safe and secure water situation for the lighthouse.

We’re heading to be a so called Eco-lighthouse, a Norwegian brand
for ecological friendly companies.
