The weather at Little island Lighthouse
You’re approaching a unique place. A lighthouse in the middle of the sea,
dependent on weather and wind conditions. Here, the weather may change
suddenly, because the open sea is our closest neighbour. Check out the
weather forecast for Little island lighthouse here.
Spring on Little island lighthouse is the time of the returning light after two
months of no sunshine together with brave birds flying northwards. Gannets
and Puffins. Oyster catchers and Snow Bunting.
Summer arrives a bit later here in the Arctic north. As a compensation we have
two months of light 24 hours a day! This gives extra energy to plants as well as
the people. A late summer night it’s the midnight sun we’re looking for at Little
island lighthouse.
Autumn at the lighthouse is clear air, inviting us to take deep breaths. Autumn
is also harvesting of all sorts of local berries to be enjoyed during long winter nights.
Winter. We call it the Blue Season. It's the time of the year when the sun is very low
on the horizon. With a few degrees below zero colours get extremely bright, and we
look for the Northern Lights. If this dancing light fails us, we'll always find some
comfort in the beacon from the lighthouse.
